Speech Development Program for Children with a Different Mother Tongue
Do you have a preschooler or a young school child who
understands Czech only partly?
They speak, but sometimes hesitate, confuse sounds, or tire quickly when
speaking?
Maybe you're already wondering how they'll manage reading, writing, and
understanding at school.
We help children for whom Czech is not their first language
develop speech, thinking and self-confidence – while respecting their
mother tongue.
How we work
In our program, we don't suppress the child's first language – we use it as a bridge to develop Czech.
Children naturally connect both languages – understanding meanings, hearing differences between sounds and learning to express themselves more clearly.
We use the Elkonin Method, which develops the ability to "hear the language" – to recognize how words sound, what they mean and
what they're made of.
This strengthens:
- pronunciation,
- comprehension,
- vocabulary
and language thinking –
the foundations for successful reading and writing.
Why it matters
Children with a different mother tongue often face a harder start at school – not because they are less capable, but because the language of learning (Czech) is not their natural way of thinking.
Our program helps bridge these differences. It teaches children to understand Czech in context – to listen, think and speak with confidence.
As a result, children adapt more easily, enjoy learning and reduce the risk of school difficulties.
We develop
- Czech language comprehension through the Elkonin Method
- Pronunciation, listening and speech rhythm
- The ability to distinguish and combine sounds
- Vocabulary, grammar and linguistic thinking
- Early reading and writing skills
"A child's first language is the foundation we build on.
We develop Czech as a bridge – to understanding, confidence and success at school and among friends."
